Do you remember a few weeks ago when some people attacked Charmayne Brown as she was reporting the news from Union? I am not sure whether or not you are interested in this effort but at least we need to know the truth. Charmayne Brown was in the studio and was asked to return to Union on an assignment in the same type area. She refused to go. The director asked her whether or not she was refusing a direct order to go on an assignment. Charmayne asked whether or not she could come into the studio—just to get her wind again. She even asked for a shift that no one wants to work. She was told there were no openings on the 4 Am shift. Charmayne then walked out and a few nights later saw new faces on the very assignment she asked for. The news people are telling persons that Charmayne decided to seek other opportunities and not that she was summarily dismissed by their attitudes toward her and refusal to work with her until she could get over the trauma of the vicious attack by these people. I still recoil from the memory of seeing an African American woman being attacked by swinging fists of people who are spewing racial venom at her. I am asking us to call WSPA or email them and let our displeasure at not seeing her be known. I am doing this but we need fraternities and sororities and interested members of the community to stand up and let our voices be heard. Some of you are in the viewing area of WSPA even if you do not live in Spartanburg. Don't you find it strange that no one who looks like us can ever stay on WSPA?Thanks for your help. WSPA.com Look at On Your Side and then Voice of the Viewer. Let them know we would like her to be treated fairly. Is there this feeling that black women cannot be traumatized and should just suck it up? I think not-not this time.
