The Day The Dude Stood Still

Ok. I'm normally a fan of these type of remakes as it's usually good to see a modern day take on a sci-fi movie from way back when. From the previews everything looked cool and it seemed more than fitting to have Mr. Matrix himself portraying the lead role of the emotionless one-dimensional personality having alien named Klatuu, especially since it sounds so much like his real name LOL. The movie got off to a great start creating a feeling of suspense and impending doom for the planet. Then after that the movie becomes one long episode of Reading Rainbow with Keanu replacing Lavar Burton's educational narrative with drunk Mr. Miyagi-ish qoutes such as when Will Smith's son asks him "What are we supposed to do during a war, stay and fight ? or run away ?" and he responds "It doesn't matter because there is nothing you can do". I don't want to spoil anything or give too much away but I'll just say that as with other Hollywood movies that came out in recent times this movie wasn't quite what you would expect, especially considering who's in it (Keanu Reeves) and the way it was advertised. It kind of reminds me of Hancock in that regard. So if you going into this movie thinking you're gonna see another (Independence Day / The Day After Tomorrow / Armageddon) then you may wanna look else where.

Thanks for the mini review on this one. I was still debating about seeing it or not.
